A native of Eclectic, Alabama, Charlotte felt a clear calling to full-time ministry. While seeking God’s will for her life, she attended college as a double major in Vocal Music and Psychology. During those years, she served as a summer missionary in Arizona and participated in numerous mission trips throughout the Southeast United States, the British Isles, and Haiti. After marrying her sweetheart, Dru Mattox, the two traveled as music evangelists, singing wherever the Lord opened doors.

After their two sons, Brett and Aaron, began school, Dru and Charlotte felt led to be home more and to serve in the local church to allow their sons to be part of the local church. On few occasions, they continued to sing in conferences and revivals.

God opened the door for Dru to serve as a Music-Worship/Youth/Associate pastor and for Charlotte to serve Him as a life-style and sometimes undercover missionary as a teller at First National Bank, an educator at Eclectic Elementary and Alexander City schools, as well as serving as the Resident Services/Public Relations/Family Self-Sufficiency Coordinator with the Housing Authority.

Recently, Charlotte retired after serving 27 years with the school/state system in October, 2024. Thinking she would be free from the work-place, God opened another door for Charlotte to serve as the Executive Ministry Assistant at Tallapoosa Baptist Association as of November, 2024.

Charlotte has learned that just when you think you have your own path figured out, God often redirects it for His best. Her greatest desire is to be a “moon” for Jesus—reflecting His light and providing encouragement to everyone she meets!

“Let your light shine, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.” — Matthew 5:16
